Ipswich Town’s return to the Premier League after a 22-year absence is a remarkable achievement, but the harsh realities of top-flight football could quickly catch up with them.
While Kieran McKenna’s side has made some astute signings, their limited resources and lack of recent Premier League experience could see them struggle to maintain their elite status.
That said, 6 games into the season they are performing best out of the three recently promoted teams, albeit only with 4 points from 4 draws.
Southampton
Southampton’s promotion through the play-offs has reignited hopes of Premier League stability, but their subdued transfer activity has raised concerns among the faithful. Despite their recent top-flight pedigree, the Saints may find the going tough as they aim to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with once again.
Earning just a single point from their first 6 games, the people at head office must already be thinking about life back in the Championship. I can certainly see it happening.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

They could hardly have had a worse start to the season either, winning just a single point and scoring 6 goals while conceding 16 in their first six games. They are bottom of the table at the time of writing, and it will be very difficult to claw their way back from this early disappointment.
I’m very close to putting money on Wolves to go down.
